This website reproduces A second look - a photographic recors of a wlk through Hackney in 1890’s and now.
The book is reproduced in it's entirety with every spread matched
by a contemporary view of the same spot by Google StreetView
(or a satellite view if that was not available).
The work looks at the evolution of urban landscape of Hackney over the last century.
It also examines the change of medium of photography over that period.
Many thanks go to The Centerprise Trust who published the orignal book in 1975
and gave us a kind perimssion to use it for this website.
